Reflection

As the period approaches, my pathway program is nearing completion. During my one-year pathway study, I learned a lot of skills that are required to enter master degree. Such as academic writing, research on articles and other skills. When I came to the United States, I knew nothing about the future master degree. I don’t know how I should learn when I entered master degree. Because there are many different ways of studying in China and in the United States, I need to re-adapt to the American way of learning. For example, in class participation, Chinese education is not particularly focused on classroom participation, but classroom participation in American education is particularly important. You need to actively participate in the teacher’s class in the classroom, and you have a lot of group discussion and cooperation. In addition to class participation is the teamwork is very important in my pathway. So pathway is a very important experience for me to enter master degree.

Looking back on the Pathway program, I found that each course was important and useful to me. During the first semester of the Pathway program, I studied 501, 503, 505, and 506. Then the second semester studied 502 and 507. In these courses, I listed several major courses to describe how to help me prepare for graduate study. First of all, I listed 501 and 502. These two courses can be counted as one type of course. In the 501 course, we need to learn some school resources, as well as some basic rules of the school. It is stipulated that we have studied the mason honor code. This is a guideline on the integrity that you need to do during the university. These are all necessary for you to become a Mason student. Then 502’s learning is to teach you how to enter the master degree. How do you write a recommendation letter, how to write a resume, how to create your own electronic portfolio, and so on. However, there are the most important 506 and 507. These two classes teach you how to do research and how to write articles. They are all related to academic writing and reading in later graduate studies. In the soon to be entered master degree, I think the learning of the Pathway program is very important. It helps you to understand the basic rules of Mason, to help you become familiar with the way American classes are taught, to help you learn how to do research, and how to make your learning more academic, these are all for your help in the soon to enter master degree.
